The 2023 PDR Process: Whilst everyone should have the opportunity to have a PDR meeting this year, Senior Leaders have advised all colleagues to take a lighter-touch approach to the 2023 cycle. See guidance on the 2023 PDR process.

Overview

The Performance and Development Review (PDR) is a honest and meaningful two way discussion about:

  • what has gone well
  • what could have gone better
  • progess against objectives
  • career plans and aspirations
  • development needs
  • setting next 12 month objectives
  • ideas and suggestions for improvements

In order to get the most out of your PDR discussion, it is important to reflect in advance on these areas and what you want to discuss with your reviewer. Also, your reviewer will want to prepare, and so you are asked to complete the greyed out sections of the form and send this to your reviewer in advance of the meeting (feel free to add notes to other sections of the form if it aids your preparation) ideally at least five days before you meet (your reviewer will arrange the meeting with you).

Allow plenty of time and remember to:

  • Complete the self-review section on the PDR form
  • Use examples where possible
  • Actively seek feedback from those who you have worked closely with
