Borregaard (P3)

Partner Borregaard has existing technology for convertin lignin and hemicelluloses sugars into vanillin and other valuable products, respectively. Both current technology and also new technology under development can be tested for various lignin and hemicelluloses fractions derived from the proposed SUNLIBB pretreament and fractionation technologies.

Raw materials - woody biomass as an example

Processes - fiber pulp from lignocellulosic biomass useable for specialty fibers and for production of sugars for fermentation to chemical building blocks and fine chemicals/quality control of fine chemicals from sugar production

Products - specialty fibers and lignins for paints/fine chemicals as vanillin for food/performance chemicals such as lignins for dyestuff dispersants/modified sugars and lignis for construction
