We have been delighted — and overwhelmed — by the number of postgraduate scholars wishing to attend, and this has put extra pressure on the funding available for postgraduate bursaries. The SRS wishes to support new scholars who are offering papers, and the Council has set aside £4000 for the purpose. However, currently we are anticipating that some 60 papers will be given by postgraduate students, so Council has decided that the most equitable way of supporting this new generation of Renaissance scholars is to offer each of them an automatic bursary to cover the registration fee for the conference. In addition, there may be some very limited extra money available towards travel expenses for delegates who are in particular need of financial support. The bursaries will be handled by Professor Claire Jowitt, the SRS Conference Co-ordinator. To claim your bursary and express your interest in additional support, before registering please contact Prof Jowitt (claire.jowitt@ntu.ac.uk). You will need to send proof of status in the form of a short letter or email from your PhD supervisor, confirming your registration for a higher degree and that you are not able to gain funding to attend the conference from your home institution. Prof Jowitt will confirm your fee waiver and send you instructions on how to register without having to pay the conference fee. You must also be a paid-up member of SRS or RSA. - Professor Claire Jowitt
