Mentoring for research and academic staff
Purpose of the scheme
To provide a mentoring provision throughout the University of York, where less experienced staff can be matched with more experienced staff and benefit from their knowledge and experiences, thereby maximising the potential of mentees within the university and utilising the skills, knowledge and experience of mentors.
Who is it for?
This scheme is for all Academic, Research (including post-docs), Teaching and Scholarship staff. There is a separate scheme available for Support Staff.
This includes staff on fixed-term contracts, providing they will be employed at the University for the full duration of the next mentoring cycle.
The mentoring scheme is recommended for staff who have completed their probation period; the University mentoring scheme is distinct from the induction process and it is assumed that informal mentoring and/or buddying will be in place for those currently within probation.
