Many colleagues at the University of York undertake research into teaching and learning, contributing towards evidence-based pedagogical development in their fields and disciplines.

The York SoTL Journal welcomes:

  • Articles relevant to University of York staff; we particularly encourage writing which challenges the status quo, exposes issues in higher education, and suggests innovative ways forward.
  • Evidence informed investigations of teaching and learning.
  • Critical literature reviews.
  • Theoretically-informed position pieces.

Submitting your work

  • Submitted articles should be previously unpublished, the original work of the submitting author(s), and should conform to the established ethical principles and practices of the University of York. All rights remain with the authors.
  • Articles should be 4000-6000 words, referenced appropriately and include an abstract of no more than 300 words.
