Training and professional development support for Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs).

Becoming eligible to teach

Postgraduate researchers (PGRs) who intend to teach at York should complete this prerequisite training, which will help develop your confidence to teach as a GTA:

All PGRs are automatically enrolled on the GTA Community site on the VLE. Staff can request access.

We review the site regularly and it is currently being redeveloped to include:

  • Self-paced online guidance
  • Information on additional training events, including opportunities to practise teaching with feedback (microteaching)

Getting professional recognition for your teaching

Secure transferable professional recognition with an Advance HE Fellowship through engaging with The York Academic and Professional Development Scheme (YPAD).
