GENRES
The Sheep Trust submitted a proposal to AGRI GEN RES 2006, an opportunity to gain funding for European Heritage Sheep Breeds from the European Commission (Council Regulation (EC) 870/2004 - establishing a community programme on genetic resources in agriculture). The application was successful, the work started in 2007 and the programme was successfully completed in the scheduled time. A policy document highlighting the importance of heritage breeds to agriculture in the member states was prepared, translated and disseminated for efficient uptake in each country.
