The University of York will host the third annual York Finance Conference (YFC), a public event for students, at the Royal York Hotel next month.

The largest internationally student-run finance conference in Europe, the event takes place from 9.00am – 7.00pm on Friday 6 March 2015.

Featuring keynote speeches, seminars, panel debates and structured networking sessions, guest speakers and recent graduates from leading financial institutions will attend, giving students wishing to enter the world of finance the opportunity to find out more.

Providing a unique insight into investment banking, investment management, consulting and accounting, speakers will offer inside knowledge and details of the practical experience required to embark on a career in finance.

Keynote speakers include: Martin Weale, Monetary Policy Committee Member at the Bank of England, Nicholas Wrigley, Vice Chairman at Rothschild, Sarah J. Wadham, Director General at The EIS Association (private equity and venture capital), Mark Howden, Head of Consumer Staples and MD at Nomura, Bob Janjuah, Global Head of Macro Strategy at Nomura and Mark Jarvis, Group CFO Transaction Advisory Services EY.

Other guests include senior employees from Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Deloitte, Aviva, Hardman and Capgemini.

Auste Vysniauskaite, a third year Economics and Finance student at York and President of the YFC, said: “This one-day event gives delegates the exciting opportunity to meet experts from the financial industry and learn from their experience. Our inspirational speakers will cover a variety of topics throughout the day, giving delegates an experience to remember.”

Students attending the conference will also have the opportunity to win an Insight Day at one of YFC’s partners’ offices in London. Last year, 30 YFC attendees were selected to attend an insight day with representatives from major firms in the finance industry.
