Webfiles provides a location for hosting large static files that are not suitable for the main York web servers, for example large data files.
Key features
- Provides a large amount of storage for files that need to be shared with other people.
- Files are accessed via a web page, which acts similarly to a file browser.
- You can add access control if you only want members of the University to see them.

- Folder owners will need a secure file transfer protocol (SFTP) client to upload files.

Webfiles are accessible off campus, therefore sensitive data should be password protected or stored elsewhere.

Service commitments
It's your responsibility to restrict content on your pages appropriately. You should inform us if the owner of the webfiles folder changes, or the folder is no longer needed.
