Virtual desktop for research (VDR)

Virtual desktop for research (VDR) allows you to perform data analysis in a Windows remote environment using a variety of data analysis software.

You can run the majority of IT Services software through the standard virtual desktop service (VDS). However, VDR is better suited to sessions that require long runtimes to process data.

Key features

  • Perform data analysis in a Windows-based remote environment.
  • Make use of a variety of data analysis software.
  • Applications and desktop sessions can be disconnected and reconnected. This allows longer runtimes of code without needing to stay actively connected during processing, eg overnight.
