Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching

Azure is a comprehensive cloud computing platform provided by Microsoft. 

It provides professional developer tools free of charge for teaching and research in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM subjects).

It offers a wide range of services, including computing, analytics, storage and networking.

  • Develop and create cross-platform apps.
  • Create games and websites.
  • Manage application life cycles.
  • Software available includes products such as:
    • Microsoft R client
    • SQL Server
    • Visual Studio
    • Windows 10
    • Windows Server
    • Windows Visio

Access instructions

Open Azure Dev Tools

  • Eligible staff and students can sign in with your University email and password. Duo two-factor authentication is required.
  • A virtual private network (VPN) connection may be required to access administrative-restricted resources.
  • Apps may be installed on personal computers and departmental lab machines (depending on the licensing and courses the department offers).

Available to students and staff (restrictions apply)

You'll need to verify your academic status by providing your University email address. It's only available for STEM subjects.

App and web-based

This service is primarily web-based, with some app-based tools.

There isn’t a cost to you for standard use.
