MathType

MathType allows you to create mathematical and scientific equations, formulas and more.

The editor interface is similar to the interface for adding maths on our main virtual learning environment, Learn VLE. Used within Microsoft Word, it can convert equations typed with the Microsoft Maths Editor into MathType equations and produce outputs in several formats.

Key features

  • Convert handwritten formulas into clean, digital equations ready to be used in your documents.
  • Choose from over 500 symbols, supporting matrices, multiline equations and specialised symbols.
  • Customise the formatting and style as required and configure how equation elements are displayed.
  • Generate high-quality images for all your equations that can be exported in various formats such as SVG, PDF, and PNG.
  • Convert your document into other formats like HTML with accessible maths.
