Google Contacts

Google Contacts is similar to an online address book. It gives you easy access to the people you want to reach, and can include information such as names, addresses, office and mobile phone numbers, job title, birthday, your own notes and more.

This service is part of Google Workspace.

Key features

  • Create contacts to build up an online address book.
  • Search for contacts to locate the people you want to reach.
  • Create a local group, similar to a distribution list, so that you can use the group within your calendar to invite people to your events.
  • Synchronise contacts to your mobile device.
  • A mobile app is available on Google Play.

Access instructions

Open Google Contacts

  • Sign in with your University of York email address and password.
  • There are some limitations to using this service in sanctioned countries.

Available to staff and students

All members of the University are automatically given a personal Google Workspace account, which includes access to this service. You can use this service on University-managed and personal devices.

App and web-based

This service works in your web browser. The mobile app is compatible with Android.

There isn’t a cost to you for standard use.
