Business Objects

Business Objects (also referred to as BOXI) is a reporting tool that is widely used across the University to create reports from various databases.

  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis.
  • Create personalised dashboards to visualise data with various charts, graphs, and widgets.
  • Easily share reports and dashboards with other users or teams.
  • Schedule reports to run at specific times or intervals and distribute them via email or save to a specified location.
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators to track business performance.

Access instructions

Open Business Objects

To request access, please submit a request via the Authorised Systems Registration tool and provide the following information:

  • What type of reports do you need to view?
  • Do you need view access or access to create and change reports?

Available to staff (restrictions apply)

You can use this service on devices connected to the University network or VPN.

This service works in your web browser.

Funded by the University

There isn’t a cost to you for standard use.

Training is not provided by the University of York.

Accounts can be provided, but individual business areas should seek third-party support for any training requirements.

Availability

Support

  • This service is managed by IT Services.
  • We are responsible for monitoring, identifying and fixing faults.
  • Support is available during our opening hours.
  • Individual departments are responsible for their own reports, data, training and set up. 

Standards

  • Our service performance and standards have been produced in consultation with our customers, and we monitor the delivery, performance and availability of facilities and services.

We appreciate feedback as it helps us review and continually improve our service.
