Implementing a new digital HR system which is capable of supporting our user and data needs across the full employee lifecycle.

Project overview

The HR Transformation Programme is a major piece of work looking at how we can make HR more effective and efficient across the University.

The improvements will be facilitated by the implementation of a new digital HR system which is more capable of responding to the needs of our staff across the full employee lifecycle than our current systems. This new system will allow us to improve how we deliver our HR and Payroll services, simplifying processes to be less manual and repetitive and more responsive to the needs of our users.

The new wider operating model for HR will embrace advanced technologies, for example AI, which will mean staff can add more value to their day.

When?

The new HR system is expected to be in place by Spring 2027.

Where?

This work will improve HR functions across the institution, benefiting all members of staff by making it easier for them to complete everyday tasks.

Why?

Our current system will reach end of life and will no longer be supported by 2027. We’re using this as an opportunity to transform how we operate across HR and create a system which is modern and sustainable and which provides the tools, processes and data to make it easy for staff to complete everyday tasks.

Benefits

The benefits of this project include:

  • HR processes will be simplified to improve efficiency, leading to long-term cost savings for the University
  • it will be easier for staff to complete the everyday things they need to with less manual and repetitive tasks
  • will set the precedent for other business transformation programs across the organisation
  • focus on embracing new technologies such as AI, allowing staff more time to add value to their day
  • a system which can support staff through the entire employee lifecycle
