Upcoming work to renew network certificate

News | Posted on Monday 7 October 2024

We will be renewing the network certificate on Thursday 17 October.

This certificate validates that the network you are connecting to is provided by the University and renewing it is an important part of maintaining a secure network.

You may need to take action on devices connected to our wireless network (eduroam) or the student wired network.

Personal and unmanaged devices

If you are using an unmanaged or personal device which has been configured using the UoY Setup, eduroam CAT, or geteduroam tools, you shouldn’t need to do anything.

If your device has been configured manually by entering your username and password, after the certificate has been renewed, you may see a message similar to the below:

Continue connecting? If you expect to find eduroam in this location, go ahead and connect. Otherwise, it may be a different network with the same name. Show certificate details. Connect. Cancel

Once you have confirmed that the certificate details match the below, select “connect.” Your device should then connect to the network.

Managed devices

If you are using a "Legacy" Windows device managed by Active Directory you won’t need to take any action.

If you are using a device managed by Azure AD you may need to follow the above instructions for unmanaged devices.

If you are using a managed Mac device  follow the “unmanaged” instructions above to get reconnected.

If you are using a managed Linux device, you won’t need to take any action.
