Grounds Maintenance Manager
Main responsibilities
- Responsible to the Director of Estates for the day to day planned maintenance of all hard and soft landscape to include: grounds and gardens, sports pitches and recreational spaces, lake, ponds, footpaths, car parks, and tree stock.
- Lead and manage the Grounds Section
- Develop and motivate staff
- Promote and enforce safe operation and compliance to standards
- Responsible for the safety of grounds team and external contractors
- Assess Grounds maintenance requirements through consultation
- Assist in the development of appropriate programmes of work and procedures
Qualifications and experience
- Essential: HND in Horticulture and Landscape Technology, membership to a professional body. Substantial experience in managing teams and supervising external contractors. Experience in managing budgets and managing landscaping projects.
- Desirable: Five years management experience
Skills
- Essential: Ability to plan strategically. Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to plan and cascade work priorities, assign tasks and lead and motivate a team. Proficient in Microsoft office packages
- Desirable: Ability to deliver training and project support to the grounds team or other members of the University
