Gator Driver / External Cleaner

Main responsibilities

• Collecting general waste and recycling from across campus, by driving utility vehicles
• Splitting waste into appropriate streams for recycling
• Cleaning of bin bays, external walkways, building entrances, bikes and bus stops
• Daily removal of waste from external bins
• Working weekends when required for 'dig out' and other organised events
• Snow clearing and gritting when required

Qualifications and experience

• Essential: Full Driving Licence. Experience in a similar post involving litter picking or external cleaning on a large, busy site.
• Desirable: Health and Safety Awareness Certification, NPTC certification in utility vehicles. Experience using types of litter collection equipment

Skills

• Essential: Ability to drive. A good level of fitness to carry out frequent handling duties. Ability to carry out duties as instructed by the supervisor. Familiarity with general aspects of health and safety regulations, specifically in relation to manual handling.
• Desirable: Experience and ability to ride operate a ride on sweeper. Skilled in clearing snow /gritting on a large site. Familiarity with basis waste management principles relating to re-cycling.
