Facilities for Trade Unions
The following is the list of agreed facilities that may be available to the Trade Unions for the purposes of providing Trade Union information and communication.
It is acknowledged that the University of York and its Departments have finite resources. Although every effort will be made to provide the facilities identified it may be that in some areas of the University of York some of the below mentioned facilities may not be available.
- The University’s printing and reproduction facilities, charged at the same rate as that for the University’s Departments
- Subject to availability, free access to e-mail, internet, intranet, internal mail, internal telephones and software to allow virtual meetings and calls.
- Subject to availability suitable rooms, free of charge, for general meetings, meetings of branch committees, meetings of Trade Unions representatives, Trade Union training events, including provision for the Union Learning Representatives and Trade Union members to meet to discuss relevant training matters, and individual case work
- Subject to availability, free use of notice boards, with the understanding that the provision of notice boards is a departmental and/or college matter and their use should be agreed in accordance with local working practices
- Subject to availability, access to photocopying and external telephone facilities with the note that it is the responsibility of each Trade Union to pay the costs incurred for use of these facilities
- Subject to availability, a permanent room, free of charge, for use by all Trade Unions to carry out Trade Union duties and activities as defined in this agreement. It should be noted that the provision of such a room is at a financial cost to the University, the amount being included in the calculation of funding for Trade Union duties and activities
