The University acknowledges the benefits to be gained from trade union membership and recognises UCU, UNISON and UNITE for these purposes. It is committed to working in partnership with Trade Union colleagues in order to achieve fair, equal and beneficial development of the University. In support of this aim, and in accordance with employment legislation, the University provides time off for trade union representatives.

This is outlined in the agreement on Time Off and Facilities for Trade Union Duties and Activities and reported in accordance with the requirements of the Trade Union Act 2016 for the period 1 April 2023 - 31 March 2024 as follows:
