Pension options

Employees considering retirement should investigate their pension options and how flexible retirement may affect their overall retirement benefits.

Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS)

Active members of USS are able to apply to the University to retire flexibly. Full details of the flexible retirement option are available from the USS website:

• Retiring from the scheme

University of York Pension Fund

University employees who are contributing members of the University of York Pension Fund may be able to apply for phased retirement. Full details of arrangements are available in the phased retirement policy.

NHS Pension Scheme members

Employees of the University who are members of the NHS Pension Scheme can find further information about flexible retirement on the NHS pensions website.

Non-pension members

Employees who are not members of one of the University's pension schemes may apply to flexibly retire under the flexible working policy and procedure.
