Giving in the UK
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, GiftAid can add 25% to the value of your donation - with no extra cost to you. If you are a higher (40%) or additional rate (45%) taxpayer, you can also claim back the rest of the tax you paid on your donation when you submit your tax return. Cheques and Charity Vouchers should be made payable to the University of York and sent to the address below.
Payroll giving and employer matching
If your employer has a scheme, you can donate directly from your pre-tax salary. Some employers also match gifts £ for £.
Gifts of stocks, shares and property:
Gifts of shares are eligible for both in come and capital gains tax relief.We can also accept donations of property, either as a gift or left in your will. Please call for more information

American donors can donate to the University of York. We are a 501(c) (3) organisation (EIN number: 30-0241333) and donations are tax deductible.

Canadian donors can benefit from tax effective giving. The University of York has been granted Prescribed University Status with the Canada Revenue Agency.

The University is registered with the Transnational Giving Europe network enabling corporations and individuals resident in France, Germany, Spain and Switzerland to support the University, while benefiting directly from the tax advantages provided for in the legislation of their country of residence.
