Event details

Play for the Planets' monthly meet ups is a unique series that brings together game designers, researchers, educators, and enthusiasts from the University of York and beyond. We're on a mission to explore how games and playful materials—ranging from digital and tabletop games to interactive narratives and simulations—can help us understand and address planetary crises.

Through monthly meetups at the Sustainability Clinic, you'll dive into environmental gameplay, thought-provoking research talks, and dynamic discussions. Discover how play and games can foster connection, spark joy, enhance learning, aid decision-making, and deepen empathy for people, places, and the planet.

This session will focus on "Pipelines or Pipedreams: Seeking Consensus is a Slippery Business", an interactive stakeholder simulation, where you’ll tackle real-world sustainability challenges like the fate of a controversial fossil fuel pipeline. Represent key stakeholders, negotiate critical decisions, and experience the complexities of sustainable development firsthand. This session is perfect for students and professionals across disciplines, offering a chance to hone your negotiation, problem-solving, and collaborative decision-making skills.

Bring your lunch and join us each month to explore the transformative power of play in driving positive change for our planet!
