Head shot of Professor Robert Constanza, wearing a blue shirt against a green leafy background

Robert Costanza is Professor of Ecological Economics at the Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) at University College London (UCL). His work on understanding our planet as an integrated, complex system, recognizes that the economy is embedded in society and the rest of nature.

He frames our current predicament as a societal addiction to a ‘growth at all costs’ economic paradigm. His work explores creative ways to implement societal therapy to create a truly shared vision of the kind of world we all want, and motivate the changes needed to achieve it. A leading thinker in the field of Ecological Economics, he was recently awarded the prestigious Blue Planet Prize
