Event details

Following the success of the initial York-SEI workshop in December, we are holding a second, one and a half hour workshop to help stimulate ODA compliant research of mutual interest. This will be an initial opportunity to share research interests and explore emerging ideas, with the aim of supporting the rapid development of priming projects. To incentivise and support new projects, the University is making available GCRF QR funding for University and SEI collaborations.

To support projects and emerging collaborations, the University is making available GCRF QR funding and complementary funding can also be sought from SEI.

Broadening the breadth and depth of the strategic partnership between the University and SEI could lead to exciting new collaborations drawing upon expertise from across York's faculties, so the event is open to all staff who have broad interests that align with SEI's core impact areas of:

  • reducing climate risk
  • sustainable resource use and resilient ecosystems
  • improving health and wellbeing

The SEI offices will be represented at the event and have a long history of deep connections around the globe, with centres in Africa (Nairobi, Kenya), Asia (Bangkok, Thailand), Latin America (Bogota, Columbia), the US and Europe (Stockholm, Sweden, Tallinn, Estonia and Oxford, UK) as well as York.

With the opportunity to utilise funding to support ODA-compliant collaborations, teams would be able to test out ways to work together in a sustainable way, either in new areas or by extensions to existing projects. Projects might include pilot studies, development of position pieces, concept notes and policy briefs, or explore how research could be undertaken in more sustainable ways.
