Peacebuilding in Asia
A new strategic network award from the ESRC has been awarded to an early career researcher at York for £92,000, for her network project on comparative peacebuilding in Asia.

Antonios' research is mainly focused on the political economy of welfare and has published on familistic welfare capitalism, global welfare regimes, informal welfare and gender. He has been part of a team organising workshop activities aiming to encourage regional voices in academic writing and broaden academic networks available to Indonesian and Thai social welfare scholars (funded by British Academy).

Bob's research focuses on the study of hybrid organizations such as social enterprises in the Thai context. Politics
Claire's main research interest is in comparative political scientist focusing on conflict and peace studies, especially in Southeast Asia. Other research interests include: democratisation, war-to-peace transitions, humanitarian interventions, ethno-religious violence, mass atrocities, civil war, politics of development in contested states, Indonesia, Myanmar and Timor-Leste. Secondary interests in horizontal inequalities, gender politics, multicultural citizenship and political Islam.
Health Sciences (PhD student)
Darius’s main research interests include: Global health; health economics and health insurance; health system in developing countries; policy evaluation using cross-section and panel data. His PhD project is on the evaluation of health insurance in Indonesia.

Post-war Reconstruction and Development Unit (PRDU)
Janaka's research aims to develop new knowledge on dealing with uncertainties and dangers presented by disasters and conflicts in the region. He is collaborating with communities and institutions in countries such as Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Pacific Islands.

Jessica's research focuses on integrated air pollution and climate change planning in countries in South and South East Asia. She has worked on various action plans related to both the mitigation of greenhouse gases and air pollutants, linking these plans to other co-benefits with a particular focus on health.

Karen’s research is concerned with labour economics and human resource management, her research topics include: wage bargaining; industrial disputation; the relative labour market position of women; job satisfaction; implications from considering networks; and consequences from using the family as the unit of analysis (including domestic violence).
Environment
Katherine is working on a project on Thailand: sea level changes from mangroves environments during the Holocene. She is also hoping to develop some work on pollen, health and air pollution in that region.

Tara's current project focuses on the circulation of medicines and the exchange of ideas about health and healing on the trade routes of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Southeast Asia.
Health sciences
My research interests are on what learning approaches empower girls and women from marginalised and rural backgrounds, focusing on women folk from South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Her work focuses on raising awareness of the implications on health and wellbeing and community wellbeing by contemporary and non-mainstream pedagogical approaches within the context of disasters, conflict and uneven development.
History
Reza's research interests are in the intersection between consumerism, modernity, and intercultural exchange in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore during the early twentieth century. He is also interested in HSTM (history of science, technology, and medicine), bureaucracy, and identity in Southeast Asia.
