Telling Feminist Stories: Research and Activism Around the World
Posted on 6 March 2019
CWS is pleased to have hosted a very successful afternoon of talks on 2 March 2019, in conjunction with York International Women's Week.
The event featured one of the Centre's lecturers and eight PhD researchers sharing 10-minute talks about their research on local and global issues affecting women today. Speakers presented to a sold out event at York's city-centre York Explore Library and also had the chance to engage in lively Q&A sessions with the audience.
The afternoon ended with a lively 'open-mic' dialogue hosted by a group of MA students on the
GEMMA programme, which invited the audience to share their diverse understandings and experiences of feminism from around the world.
If you weren't able to join us on the day, you can still catch up and watch some of the talks. Recordings have been made available online on our event website:
In the spirit of activism and community support, collections were also made throughout the event for Refugee Action York, The Lunar Project and The Red Box Project. We'd like to thank everyone for their generous contributions!
