Violent Concepts: Feminists Grappling with Violence, Knowledge and Practice – an interdisciplinary round table discussion

Wednesday 23 April 2025, 5.00PM

From constructions of ‘sexual terrorism’ to ‘sex wars’ and ‘femicide/feminicide’, there is a long history of feminist scholars and activists challenging mainstream and academic conceptualisations of violence, drawing attention to how concepts such as ‘war’, ‘peace’, ‘terrorism’, ‘political violence’ are, among other things, gendered knowledge formations.

Join us for an interdisciplinary round table discussion as we think through how we, as feminist scholars, mobilise concepts around ‘violence’ and what is at stake in doing so.
