Mitigating circumstances for Undergraduate applicants

If you’ve experienced personal, social or domestic issues that you would like to tell us about, please complete our Mitigating Circumstances form.

Providing more information about your circumstances gives our admissions assessors more context in which to consider your UCAS application. We don’t make reductions in response to mitigating circumstances but you may be eligible for extra consideration.

We can only consider extenuating circumstances which you have told us about through the form; we're not able to consider mitigating circumstances that are declared in the Personal Statement or Reference section of your UCAS application.

If you've declared a disability on your UCAS application, it's only considered by the Disability Services team if you enrol as a student at York. Our admissions team does not see this section of your UCAS application, and it isn't taken into account when assessing applications.

If you have any questions about support while you study, please contact our Disability services team who will be able to advise.

How to apply

We encourage you to submit your Mitigating Circumstances form at the same time as submitting your UCAS application. This allows our admissions assessors to take all the relevant information into account when making their decision.
