Language and Linguistic Science at York is a dynamic and innovative department with expertise spanning the arts and sciences.
We are one of the leading centres in the UK for teaching and research in theoretical and empirical linguistics. Our major specialisms are in theoretical syntax and semantics, phonetics and phonology, language acquisition, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, historical linguistics and forensic speech science.
