Why study Finance at York?

Finance has been taught and researched at York since its inception in 1963. This area has been shaped by a focus on academic excellence and real world impact. Finance research has also been linked with a high level of policy work in the UK and internationally.

Our suite of finance Masters programmes is uniquely multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary. They bring together expertise from the School for Business and Society, the Department of Mathematics, and the Department of Economics and Related Studies.

Which Finance Masters course is right for you?

First-class facilities and resources

Our on-campus courses are based in the Church Lane Building, which houses a bespoke Finance Lab. This lab is used for data access and collection for assignments and research. Develop real-world knowledge of financial markets in our Trading Room.* Teaching will take place at various locations around Campus West.

Our graduates

Our graduates are working in a wide range of sectors, from banking to multinational corporations. They've gone on to become investment bankers, hedge fund managers, financial consultant, business analysts, derivates traders and civil servants.

Some also go on to further study at PhD level.

I originally completed a BEng in Electronic Engineering at York, and then an MSc in Mathematical Finance. I work as a Quantitative Forecasting Analyst. My work concentrates on researching and developing new statistical models and improving existing models in order to forecast European gas and electricity demand.
