FutureLearn

This course provides an overview and introduction to various aspects of pubs. It will start with a brief history of pubs over the last 150 years, highlighting different pub designs, styles and architecture as pubs have been built and renovated. You'll look at the consumer within the pub context, their drinking behaviour and their use of pub spaces.

The course will also examine how different management styles, and forces, shaped by political and cultural changes have shaped pubs. Finally, the course will look at the contemporary plight of pubs, with many closing, and how pubs can be saved and supported.
