"The teaching here at York is nothing like I expected. I thought that during university I’d be on my own without much help, but here at York the teaching staff have been absolutely amazing and so supportive! Not only do you have a supervisor that always looks out for you, but you can reach out to teaching staff for their help.
"The University of York is definitely one of the most beautiful campuses I’ve ever been to. I love how it’s situated a little out of town, as it allows you to focus on your studies. But if you ever need a break, the city centre is only 15 minutes away by bus. I also love the ducks and geese on campus. They never fail to make me smile, even on a bad day!"

"York is so beautiful! I go to the town every weekend but I'm still amazed every time! I can't appreciate the York Minster enough. Every time I go spot different amazing places in the city - maybe a quiet cafe, or a vintage shop. There are always places to discover. I think the transport is pretty satisfying and convenient - just hop on at the library bus stop and you can go to the city centre or even to the Designer Outlet.
"I live in Halifax College which I love a lot. I really enjoy all of the fantastic scenery around Halifax! It's next to several ‘farms’ as well as the Golf Club. Weather permitting, I will go hiking with housemates, or alone during weekends."

"I love the study areas in York the most. The campus provides great areas to study, including the Piazza library, Piazza study area, Ron Cooke Hub, Library and more. Some areas like the Ron Cooke Hub and the library are open around the clock, so I can work whenever I want according to my own routine.
"I love how historic the city is. York’s medieval streets and buildings are still beautifully preserved. The Shambles is deemed one of the most recognised historic streets in England. The architecture is beautifully preserved in the historical heart of the city."

"I was offered the Academic Excellence Scholarship, the Department of English Overseas Bursary and the Sharifah Sofia Albukhary Scholarship. These scholarships have greatly alleviated my financial burden and have enabled me to fully take advantage of the opportunities here at York. The Sharifah Sofia Albukhary Scholarship has enabled me to meet many different scholars from different backgrounds and has given me the opportunity to network.
"While I've taken up some casual work these scholarships have meant that I have not had to take up regular part-time work, enabling me to fully focus on my studies as well as extracurricular endeavours. They have given me the chance to fully immerse myself in university life."

"Settling in was a bit rocky in the beginning because I didn't know where anything was or how to get to places, but the people here are so friendly so it was never scary to ask for directions. Freshers' Week was a great way to ease into university life - there were lots of fun things to do and there was so much excitement in the air!
"One of my favourite things to do is to watch the sunset from the third floor of the Morrell Library - it's ten times better from that viewpoint. The absolute best sight is Campus West at night, when all the lights on the bridges and the fountain are on. It's so beautiful!”
