Do I need to pay tuition fees?
If you are nominated to the University of York by your home university through a current student exchange agreement then you will not need to pay tuition fees to the University of York. Contact your home university to check whether you can apply as a visiting exchange student.
If you're applying to York as an independent visiting student (not on a student exchange agreement) you'll pay tuition fees directly to the University of York. Your tuition fees will cover the costs of tuition, supervision, exams and an academic transcript.
If you're an undergraduate or postgraduate taught student the minimum fee payable is equivalent to the fees for one semester. If you're a postgraduate research student there is a sliding scale for fees.
The following tuition fee rates are for full-time study:

Additional courses
If you take any additional courses, such as those through our Centre for Lifelong Learning or foreign language courses through Languages for All then additional fees may be charged.
Special arrangements apply for some schemes where students pay fees directly to their home university, or who come to York through certain third party providers. Contact your home institution if you are unsure whether this applies to you.
Help and support to improve your academic writing and language skills can be found at our Writing Centre. They also offer credit-bearing modules.
