Area(s) of Responsibility

I oversee, coordinate, and advise on assessment policy and procedure across the department. I lead the design and delivery of language and study skills assessments. In addition to working closely with students and staff to promote academic integrity, I also manage the academic misconduct process. In the classroom, I teach study skills and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).

Professional Interests

  • Leveraging technology to enhance student learning, engagement and assessment.
  • Supporting international students in overcoming barriers to succeed academically.
  • Exploring the role of generative AI and machine translation in assessment practices, student learning, and teaching methods.
  • Collaborating with students to foster academic integrity, and supporting educators in addressing various forms of misconduct.

Further Information

I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and serve on the University-wide Standing Committee on Assessment. Additionally, I am a committee member for the BALEAP Testing, Assessment and Feedback Special Interest Group (SIG). I hold certification from the Association of Learning Technology (CMALT) and I am a member of UKALTA, EALTA, and the eAssessment Association. I have an MA and a PGCert and have experience working at universities and language schools both in the UK and internationally.
