Each year hundreds of our students take on charity volunteering roles with a wide range of organisations in and around York who are looking for support from volunteers.

With a wide range of charities involved, we'll have something to interest you, including opportunities to:

  • Support local wellbeing initiatives
  • Discover the region's arts and heritage
  • Be a change-maker for sustainability

Seize the chance to get involved, build your networks, and boost your skills.

What's involved?

You can volunteer with local charities to support a cause you care about, all while getting to know the community you’re studying in and enhancing your CV. It’s also a great way to try out different sectors, to see which career is right for you.

Roles are open to any student and the commitment varies between roles from a regular time each week to a one-off event, so there is lots of flexibility to find a role to suit your timetable. Most roles are in person, however see our Remote Volunteering page for guidance and remote roles.
