Careers and Placements are here with tools and support to help you during your final year, and as an alumni.
Appointments
If you're still unsure about your next steps, we're here to help. You can discuss any careers-related issue at Careers drop-in or at a careers advice appointment. Find out more about the range of appointments we offer, and how to book.
In addition to the support all students and graduates can get from Careers and Placements, we are also able to offer Career Coaching and Step into Tech to some students and graduates, subject to certain eligibility requirements.
- Career coaching - Wherever you are in relation to your planning, a career coach will work with you 1-1 to help you identify a career-related goal and what you need to do to achieve it
- Graduates into Work - Programme to support unemployed or underemployed graduates living in North Yorkshire (outside of the City of York boundary)
- Step into Tech - Free part-time online programme for students and graduates interested in a career in the tech industry who have studied any degree outside of computer science

After graduation
Even after graduation you still have access to the majority of our services, including appointments (by video call).
York graduates can continue to access Handshake to view vacancies, send us questions and book appointments. If you have completed the Graduation Task and given a forwarding email address, you will receive a notification when your Handshake account has been converted to an alumni account. Until then continue to login with your University email/username.
Finally, all York graduates are part of York for Life, helping you to keep in touch with the University and other York alumni. you'll receive further information about this at graduation.
