Work Wardrobe

York Cares Work Wardrobe supports students by providing them with free professional clothing for interviews or work placements.

In a fast moving and evolving world, it’s hard to know what is work-appropriate or what to wear for an interview. Additionally professional clothing is often prohibitively expensive.

We address this problem by collecting lightly used workwear donated by employees from our employer partners. These professional items are then available for students who need workwear. You can browse the wardrobe and take up to 3 items for free at one of our weekly drop-in sessions or find us at the Career Fairs.

The Work Wardrobe provides a new sustainable way for employers to contribute to the community and removes one barrier to employment whilst giving professional clothes a new lease of life and supporting students to prepare for a world of work.

Drop in Sessions run every Tuesday during semesters, between 10am and 3pm in the Careers and Placements building.
