Enterprise at York supports students and recent graduates to develop their business ideas and build the skills and confidence for starting up.

We can support you in a number of ways. Whether you're looking for someone to talk to about your idea, want to learn enterprising transferable skills or apply for funding from £250 to £10,000, there's something for everyone.

Toby, a York graduate, talks about what it was like setting up his digital marketing consultancy firm as a student, and how he's benefited from the services that Enterprise offer.

If you’re not sure where to start, or want to discuss your idea, book an appointment to talk to us. They are normally 30 minutes long and held on Zoom. We offer appointments every week during semesters.

What do I need to prepare?

You don’t need to bring or prepare anything in advance, although some notes about your idea are always welcome on the booking form. You could take a look at our startup guide to give you some useful points to consider and discuss during the meeting.

Is my idea good enough?

The Enterprise team hears all sorts of weird and wacky ideas, and we fully encourage you to discuss anything with us - large or small, brand new or developed. At the same time, we can signpost you towards other programmes and colleagues who may be able to help you further.

It can feel like a daunting step, but the more people you talk to about your idea, the better - so get in touch and get on our radar. Who knows where it could lead?
