UoY community update
Feeling unwell? Look out for these key symptoms
In a large community, we need to be vigilant about infectious illnesses and you may have seen in the news the prevalence of Covid, flu and Strep A. Whilst most common illnesses improve with rest and painkillers, you should be aware of symptoms where you may need further medical help. Look out for symptoms like:
- High temperature
- Rash
- Sore throat
- Aches
We recommend that you are up to date with vaccinations against Covid, measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) and meningococcal MenACWY vaccines.
If you feel unwell, let someone know and stay at home. Seek medical advice if your symptoms get worse. See our information on infectious illnesses or get advice from the NHS website.
Many students are taking exams this week. Our information on taking an exam, including what to bring to an exam, will help your experience go more smoothly. It is perfectly normal to feel stressed in the lead up to or during an exam but, if it starts to feel too much, read our exam stress advice for tips on how to calm yourself during an exam.
The accommodation booking system for existing undergraduates wanting to live on campus for 2023/24 opens today. Whilst we have significantly increased the number of rooms available to returning students this year, University-managed accommodation is limited and not guaranteed to continuing students. Demand for these rooms is very high so we advise you to book campus accommodation for 2023/24 early.
Student Connect has reopened for Spring Term. Get matched with either one person or a group of people in your department or college and expand your uni network. You’ll also be invited to bespoke social events. Sign up for Student Connect.
