In 2019 we launched our first ever major fundraising campaign: York Unlimited. We had the bold ambition of raising £120 million and unlocking 120,000 volunteer hours to create new ways to tackle inequalities and help every student to succeed. As a result, over 3,000 student scholarships, awards and bursaries have been awarded and research and support for student wellbeing has been funded. Find out more about the impact of York Unlimited.
While stress and anxiety can sometimes be overwhelming, they can also be an energising and healthy pressure that encourages you to grow your capabilities and take control of your situation. So how can we strike a balance? Check out this Talk Campus blog showing techniques to help reduce and manage stress and anxiety levels during assignment periods and exams. And this evening (Monday 15 May) you can join a conversation about anxiety: its impact upon us and how best to manage it where we will see the many faces of anxiety and how to recognise when this normal human emotion starts to become a problem. On Wednesday we also have a session on responding to stress with resilience.
Need to talk? Don’t forget you can access the TalkCampus app for free using your student email address. Here you can talk anonymously to students from around the world going through the exact same struggles you are, any time of day or night.
Research shows there are strong links between sleep, learning and memory - aim for between seven and nine hours of sleep a night. Have trouble sleeping? There are lots of things you can do to help yourself. Our information on sleep contains advice on how to get a good night’s rest. See our other top tips for study and exam success.
Have a quick question about essay writing? Need some advice about referencing? Come to our academic skills drop-ins at the Library entrance foyer on Wednesday 17 and 24 May from 11am until 2pm where our dedicated tutors can provide students with guidance for any academic questions they may have. We can offer personalised suggestions for resources, workshops, and other services.
Are you thinking about the next step after your degree? About 30% of you said you would like more information. Look out for our social media messages and take a look at our semesters web page for more about how semesters will affect:
- how programmes are taught
- vacation times and lengths
- exams and assessment
- your part-time work
