Please park your car considerately
We have received complaints from University neighbours regarding inconsiderate parking in streets near to campus. If you travel to campus by car, please use one of the many pay and display car parks on campus and help us to maintain strong positive links with our local community. Please think before you park.
We have appointed renowned architects ADP and O’Donnell + Tuomey to design your new Student Centre on Campus West. The winning design, which we hope will be as iconic as Central Hall, was selected by a panel including representatives from YUSU and GSA. Building work to create our first ever dedicated student focused building will start in 2023. Find out more about the new Student Centre and see the winning design.
Over the extended Bank Holiday (Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June), most buildings on campus will be closed. If you have an existing room booking in a space that is closed, please ensure you have your Uni card with you to access buildings as you would out of hours. Our campus cafes, restaurants and Nisa stores will also have slightly different opening hours. See Eat at York information about bank holiday opening times.
We have a strong tradition of marking Pride Month with involvement in a variety of events both on campus and in the city. Join us for our Progress Pride Flag raising event on Greg’s Place on Wednesday 15 June in order to kick start our celebrations. We’ll take part in the York Pride parade, marching from the Minister to the Knavesmire on Saturday 18 June, where we welcome all members of our community to join us and stand in solidarity with our LGBT+ community. The Short Courses Team is looking for students to work on their residential summer programme, York Global Summer Schools. They are recruiting for three different roles: Activity Leader, House Parent and Night supervisor. These are all intensive, full-time roles throughout July, with work spread over six days a week. There are two sessions this week on academic posters. Join the ‘Posters with a (Powerful) Point’ workshop on Tuesday 31 May to look at the best applications to use to create academic posters and examine what approach to use. The ‘Poster presentation delivery skills’ session on Wednesday 1 June then looks at the skills you need to make sure a poster presentation goes well. Sign up for our academic poster sessions.
