Good luck to all those taking part in Roses this weekend. We all know that #RosesAreWhite!

Industrial action update

No industrial action to take place following latest ballot
In the latest round of University and College Union (UCU) ballots on pensions and pay and conditions, York - along with a number of other universities - did not meet the threshold for further industrial action. The Vice-Chancellor has written to all staff today with his reaction and thoughts.

1. Library update: exam period

The Library will be open 24 hours a day between Monday 2 May and Saturday 4 June, during the exam period. They've also updated some things for the Summer Term, including allowing hot food in the Fairhurst - watch the Library update video for a brief summary of the changes. Don’t forget you can also find out about study spaces on campus on the website.

2. Funding for student projects

Are you looking for funding for an extra curricular project in your department, college, club or society? Thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends of the University, funds are available to support you through two different channels:

3. Samaritans campus drop-ins return

We are once again pleased to partner with Samaritans to provide a drop-in service every Tuesday in term time. The Samaritans drop-in is in The Wellbeing Room, Goodricke College Nucleus, every Tuesday during term between 6-8pm. Samaritans are independent of the University, and available for anyone who is going through a difficult time and needs to talk. You can also drop in to find out more about Samaritans, including volunteering opportunities.

4. Would you be interested in attending a bike maintenance workshop?

We’re exploring the possibility of hosting in-depth bike maintenance workshops on campus, hosted by The Bike Doctor. Register your interest in attending a bike maintenance workshop. Remember you can bring along your bike or buy a recycled one from the monthly Bike Doctor drop-in sessions. You get a free basic service and pay for additional parts or repairs at a discounted price. See forthcoming Bike Doctor dates.

5. David Kato College winning shield design

We are delighted to announce the winner of the David Kato College shield design competition. Congratulations go to the creators of the winning design, Isobel Allen and Leila Pathirana. Take a look at the final design and read more about the winning entry.
