Things to know this week - 21 March 2022

Posted on 21 March 2022

Welcome to a special vacation student news summary.

1. Spring vacation - what’s on, what’s open

A reminder of what’s on and what’s open on campus during the spring vacation, including Library services, academic skills support, student support, food outlets and events and activities.

2. ‘Living with Covid’ update

Following national reforms to Covid isolation rules and testing regimes, the Covid testing site at the University will close on Friday 25 March. Staff at the centre will be available until Friday to provide advice for anyone in attendance with questions about the transition. In line with guidance, we will also no longer be offering free testing kits and self isolation packages across the University from Friday 25 March. Our Covid web pages have been updated and signpost you to Government guidance on what to do if you experience Covid symptoms. More advice and ways to access support will be shared ahead of the new term.

3. Our response to the invasion of Ukraine

The University of York is a University of Sanctuary in a City of Sanctuary. We are supporting students who have been directly impacted by the developments in Ukraine. Alongside the many national charities supporting those affected, we are also enabling contributions to support those in crisis through our Equal Access Fund giving page. Find out more about our response to the invasion of Ukraine.

4. Student misconduct: have your say

Regulation 7, the procedure under which student misconduct is managed, is being revised and we would really value feedback from students and staff. We are particularly looking at areas of accessibility, academic misconduct, sexual misconduct, racial harassment, and online behaviours. We would particularly welcome responses from those belonging to underrepresented groups, who we recognise are often disproportionately impacted by some of these issues. Have your say on Regulation 7 (login required).
