The weekly news summary for taught students.

Coronavirus: update summary

The Prime Minister plans to reveal the roadmap out of the latest lockdown. Later this week, once we know what the revised restrictions and guidelines are and have had the opportunity to understand what they mean for our students, we will update the Covid web pages and the Vice-Chancellor will send students an email.

1. National Student Money Week

National Student Money Week brings you advice and support in managing your money. Complete the three-day email learning bootcamp to enter a prize draw to win £250 or pop along to the Student Hub online money drop-in for great tips on saving money. Check out National Student Money Week events to help you prepare your finances for a rainy day.

2. Introducing Library Home From Home Live

Library Home from Home Live is an online study room that aims to replicate the atmosphere of working in the physical Library. It’s not the same as sitting next to the books and absorbing all of that knowledge, but if you can’t get to campus right now the online study room is the next best thing! There are four trial sessions this term, starting on Tuesday 23 February. Read more about how Library Home From Home works.

3. Overcoming feelings of worry and stress

A little bit of worry can be positive but we should prevent worry and stress dominating and taking over. This week’s wellbeing workshop focuses on practical techniques to help you overcome stress, as well as letting you know about services and resources that you can access after the session. Book your place at the online workshop.

4. Wellbeing support A-Z

If you are feeling overwhelmed for any reason please know you are not alone and that there is help available. For starters, take a look at our A to Z of advice. Then, if you think you’d benefit from talking to someone, visit the Help and Support page which gives information on Open Door and Togetherall as well as all the different support services available to you both on and off campus.

5. Academic Skills Community workshops

In addition to academic writing we have added a new series of workshops to help you deal with data and numbers. Get to grips with interpreting and communicating your data and take a look at what is on offer this week.
