The latest round of YuFund is now open, giving grants to projects run by student clubs and societies, departments and colleges. So what would you make happen? Recent successful projects include funding to buy new lighting equipment to support more student events to be outdoors and Covid-safe; Boxing Club received funds to buy new equipment; and LGBTQ Social Society received funding to improve online resources to facilitate virtual social connections. The Samaritans are hosting drop-in sessions every Tuesday during term-time, available for anyone who is going through a difficult time. Whatever you’re facing, they’re here to listen, and if you have lots on your mind, they will help you find your own way through it. The sessions are between 6-8pm on Tuesday in LFA/134 in the Library. You can also phone Samaritans free of charge at any time, day or night on 116 123. See more information on help and support.
Join your department or college in our Carbon Reduction Challenge. Use the online tool to measure your carbon footprint and learn simple ways to be more sustainable - personalised to you so you can find what works best. Your efforts are added to those of others in your college or department to provide a team score and leader board. Sign up to the Carbon Reduction Challenge before Friday 22 October for a chance to win a pair of LNER train tickets or £25.
The University is hosting its third Giving Day on 3 and 4 November to rally around student and mental health causes at York. Last year, over 700 people - staff, alumni, students and friends of York - raised an incredible £171,000 for charitable causes at the University. We would love for you to get involved with Giving Day now by signing up to become an Ambassador, saving the date in your diary or by making a gift today!
