Posted on 11 October 2021

Welcome to your student news summary of key things happening this week.

Covid update summary:
Protect. Respect. Be kind.

Please wear a face covering
In consideration of others who may be vulnerable, thank you for wearing a face covering when in large gatherings or confined spaces.

Do you know what to do if a close contact tests positive for Covid?
If someone in your household tests positive for Covid and you have been fully vaccinated, you should arrange to take a PCR test (not Lateral Flow) as soon as possible. If you aren’t fully vaccinated, you need to self-isolate.

1. Nominate our next Chancellor

Next summer, Sir Malcolm Grant’s time as our Chancellor will come to an end. We are now beginning the search for our seventh Chancellor, and we're inviting you to nominate someone whose commitment and values would make them the right person to act as our champion and advocate. Find out more about the role of Chancellor, the responsibilities, and the nomination process.

2. Develop your academic skills

Look out for the Academic Skills Community Things to know: Live event. Whether you’re new or a returning student, this session explains everything you need to know about study skills resources at the University and how you can develop your study methods. Get the academic year off to a great start.

3. What are your career options?

Explore career options at the forthcoming fairs hosted by Careers and Placements. This is a chance to meet firms recruiting to graduate and internship schemes and placement years. Many companies recruit from any degree discipline so find out more and book sessions with employers:

4. Adapting to change

Take a look at this term’s wellbeing workshops where you can find support in a friendly environment for many issues students face. The first workshop takes place tomorrow (Tuesday 12 October).
