While everything can feel a bit gloomy in light of Covid-19, we want to remind people that the world's not just full of negative experiences right now and we need your help to do so. We want to know how you've been getting on during Covid-19 and to hear your story as to how you've been coping with this rather different year at university; from positive encounters to tips on coping with self-isolation and lockdown life. Thursday 4 February is Time to Talk Day, a day when everyone is encouraged to talk about mental health. The more conversations we have, the more barriers we can break down, helping to end the stigma that many people can feel about mental health problems. The Academic Skills Community has online skills workshops and community groups taking place every day. Highlights this week include a new series of Dissertation Skills workshops and how to make the best of the supervisor-student relationship - a very important, but often overlooked, aspect of your academic life! Get involved with events marking Sexual Violence Awareness Week. Share a light on social media with #ItsNotOkYork or enter the ARTivism competition for the chance to win a £100 Amazon voucher. Events include taking a look at lad culture, disability and sexual violence, and how you could be a Survive ambassador. We also outline support if you have been impacted by sexual violence. Apply to join the Student Expert Panel to ensure that student experiences, needs and perspectives are represented in the work of the University. We particularly encourage applications from postgraduate students, undergraduates who are not in their final year of study, and students who come from underrepresented groups.
