Check-In feedback and developments
Following our first Check-In survey, we’ve analysed your responses and are working on an action plan to introduce updates based on your feedback. Find out what steps we are taking to help improve your experience.

1. Talk money

Today marks the start of Talk Money Week, an annual campaign to encourage us all to speak more openly and honestly about our finances and seek out expert advice. Discover our top money management tips and tools and sign up for Blackbullion, our financial education platform, for free! From outlining ways to save, to helping in calculating a realistic budget or listing where to turn if things go wrong, we have you covered. You can also see our cost of living support for students and find York Talk Money resources for further help.

2. To read, or not to read?

Thanks to the power of tools like Google and YorSearch, the list of sources available for research can seem endless, so how do you navigate through them to find readings you really want? Join our Finding the right reading session this Friday (8 November) for tips to help you find texts you can trust that are relevant to your work and provide reliable data.

3. Come to the Global Opportunities Fair

There’s still time to register for the Global Opportunities Fair on Wednesday (6 November) to explore international opportunities for postgraduates. Speak to staff from our Global Opportunities team and discover more about independent travel opportunities.

4. What is a PhD?

If you’re thinking about PhD study, register for the next Postgraduate Café on Wednesday (6 November). Speak to current students about their experiences of applying to, funding, and studying for a PhD in a friendly, informal environment, with free tea, coffee and cake. The event will be preceded by a talk organised by Careers and Placements on Finding and applying for a PhD at 2pm.
