You can elect the first York and North Yorkshire Mayor this Thursday (2 May). The Mayor is responsible for areas such as transport, housing and community safety. Read YUSU’s guide to why you should care about the Mayoral elections and don’t forget to take your photographic ID when you vote.
Come to the Grad Jobs Fair on Wednesday 8 May where graduate employers are looking to recruit for positions starting later this year. You can have your CV reviewed and your photo taken for your LinkedIn profile. You can also browse through our free-of-charge interview clothing at the Work Wardrobe. If you feel nervous about approaching an employer at the fair you can get a fair buddy who will help initiate conversations. Find out how to prepare for the fair, including an extra preparation session for international students tomorrow (30 April).
Personalised support can be a game-changer in your academic journey. Whether you're gearing up for exams or finalising your academic projects, our one-to-one appointments with Academic Skills Advisors are an invaluable free and confidential resource. Consult with tutors at the Maths Skills Centre for guidance on statistical analysis and quantitative research or meet with a Study Coach to refine your study strategies and academic approach.
The latest round of YuFund is now open, granting up to £10,000 to projects run by student clubs and societies, departments and colleges. So what could you make happen? Previous successful projects include funding for a gala welcoming in the Year of the Dragon, plus new equipment for Halifax College netball club and wheelchair fencing facilities for the Fencing Society. Application deadline: Monday 13 May. Find out more about the type of activities YuFund can support and apply now.
You don’t have to come from a science background to break into becoming a doctor. Our careers podcast 'What Do You Actually Do?' caught up with alum Ian Henderson to find out how he went from studying English at York to working as a junior doctor and medical researcher.
